Pictured is the Blackwater Falls waterfall from an observation platform near the 63 foot tall waterfall. The Blackwater River has carved a magnificent canyon from the 3200 foot plateau above — the cataract featured is only the beginning of the river's deep rapid descent. The wooden deck this picture was taken from is not just a favorite of tourists but also of black bears, which have been known to frequent the area particularly early in the morning.
