The steep sided Blackwater Canyon's slopes have plenty of autumn color despite a rough storm just a day prior to this picture that was taken October 8, 2006. The Blackwater River's frothy rapids gleam a white against the surrounding forest canopy. The saturated hues of autumn were only interrupted by the green of Red Spruce trees scattered about the wild canyon's slopes.
