Maine's Portland Head Light at Sunset
Maine's Portland Head Light at Sunset
A setting sun's light is cast against the full profile of Maine's most famous lighthouse, the Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth. Picture was taken following a round of torrential rains earlier in the day that gave way to a beautiful evening in Fort Williams Park. The lighthouse stands at 101 feet high and is constructed of rubble stone with brick lining. George Washington signed off on construction of the original that was first lit in 1791.
